Lido has released an update regarding the Kelp security incident, stating that its Earn-series vaults are working with the management team to address the issue, focusing on two key risk areas: rsETH exposure and tightening liquidity in lending markets. Lido emphasizes that its core staking protocol remains unaffected, and both stETH and wstETH remain secure and stable. Currently, only the EarnETH vault holds approximately 9% of its TVL in rsETH exposure; related deposits and withdrawals have been suspended by the management team pending resolution. Of the ~$70 million in ETH stolen in the earlier attack, roughly $70 million has already been recovered; asset recovery and loss allocation efforts are ongoing. To mitigate liquidity pressure, the management team has reduced leverage and optimized position structures, significantly decreasing wETH debt exposure. Should losses ultimately materialize, EarnETH will activate its $3 million “first-loss protection mechanism,” funded by the DAO. Other vaults remain unaffected: DVV and EarnUSD are operating normally. The GGV sub-vault is currently experiencing negative yields due to a combination of recursive staking strategies and rising borrowing rates, but active adjustments are underway. Users’ previously submitted withdrawal requests will be processed at pre-incident valuations.
Odaily News Aurise Foundation announced the launch of the yield-bearing gold token XAUE on Ethereum, designed to serve as a yield-bearing treasury for Tether Gold (XAU₮). XAUE targets compliant institutional participants, introducing crypto-native yield to traditional non-yielding gold through quantitative strategies and institutional lending, transforming it into a programmable and capital-efficient on-chain asset.Current ecosystem partners Aurelion and Antalpha have jointly contributed 16,052 XAU₮ (approximately $76 million) to XAUE. The protocol employs an exchange rate growth model, where the gold value pegged to each XAUE increases as yields accumulate, and it will integrate with more decentralized finance protocols such as DEXs in the future.
According to the Aave Governance Forum, Gordon Liao, a Circle team member, has submitted an ARFC proposal recommending a two-step adjustment to the USDC interest rate model parameters on Aave v3 Ethereum Core to address the current liquidity shortage in the USDC pool. Current context: Following the rsETH incident on April 18, the USDC pool utilization has remained persistently near 100%, with available liquidity falling below $3 million. The borrowing rate has been stuck at the 14% cap for an extended period, and the pool’s total supply has contracted by approximately $60 million over the past 24 hours. As a result, the market is unable to clear via price mechanisms. The proposal’s core measures are as follows: Step 1 (to be executed immediately by Risk Administrators): Increase Slope 2 from 10% to 40%, decrease the optimal utilization rate from 92% to 87%, and temporarily suspend the Slope 2 risk oracle for USDC. Step 2 (to be completed within 5–7 days via governance vote): Further increase Slope 2 to 50% and reduce the optimal utilization rate to 85%. The proposal argues that many current borrowers are insensitive to interest rates and primarily borrow to bypass withdrawal queues and exit positions. Active leverage, meanwhile, is key to attracting new suppliers. Raising the maximum supply rate to the 40%–50% range is expected to draw in USDC liquidity within hours, driving utilization below the kink point and restoring the market’s normal clearing functionality.

According to an official post by Umbra (@UmbraCash), the privacy payment protocol Umbra was used to transfer funds related to a recent hacking incident, involving 349 ETH (approximately $800,000). Umbra stated that, as its privacy address system primarily protects the recipient’s identity—not the sender’s—it offers limited practical assistance to hackers attempting to obscure the origin of stolen funds. All stolen funds remain identifiable and traceable. The team has been in active communication and collaboration with security researchers. Umbra also noted that the protocol is powered entirely by autonomous smart contracts; thus, the team cannot prevent anyone from using the contracts or self-hosted frontend versions. In support of fund recovery efforts, the team placed the hosted frontend into maintenance mode at 6:45 a.m. ET on April 21. Access will be restored once it is confirmed that doing so will not impede the recovery process. The protocol itself continues operating normally, and all funds held within privacy addresses remain secure.

Users do not need to take any action for this upgrade.
Odaily News Etherealize has released its latest report, adjusting the long-term price expectation for Ethereum (ETH) to $250,000.This prediction is based on a core assumption: if ETH can capture a "monetary premium" similar to gold and Bitcoin, securing a place in the approximately $31 trillion store-of-value market, its price could reach this level. The report argues that ETH possesses unique historical attributes, serving not only as a store of value but also as a "yield-generating asset," distinguishing it from traditional asset forms.
Odaily News A 50-page report commissioned by Coinbase indicates that although current quantum computers are not yet capable of cracking the encryption technologies of networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum, fault-tolerant large-scale quantum computers will eventually be built, and the crypto industry must begin preparations now. The report was authored by an independent advisory committee, including cryptographers and scholars such as Dan Boneh from Stanford University, Justin Drake from the Ethereum Foundation, and Sreeram Kannan from Eigen Labs. The report states that estimates for the time it would take quantum computers to break current encryption standards range from several years to over a decade. The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology recommends migrating to post-quantum cryptography by 2035, but the report suggests this timeline may be optimistic. Post-quantum cryptography already exists and is undergoing standardization, but post-quantum digital signatures can be tens to hundreds of times larger than existing signatures, potentially increasing block sizes by up to 38 times and introducing challenges such as wallet migration. The Ethereum Foundation has proposed a post-quantum digital signature scheme, and projects like Solana are also experimenting with post-quantum wallet designs. The report recommends adopting flexible transition strategies, such as hybrid systems, to prepare for future upgrades without compromising current security.
Coinbase’s Quantum Computing and Blockchain Independent Advisory Committee released its first position paper, stating that sufficiently powerful quantum computers could one day break the cryptographic mechanisms used by mainstream blockchains to protect digital assets—but such devices do not yet exist, and crypto assets remain secure for now. The industry should begin preparing for quantum-resistant upgrades immediately. The paper notes that Bitcoin mining, hash functions, and on-chain historical records currently face no material risk; the primary vulnerability lies at the wallet layer—in digital signatures. Ethereum has already proposed a relatively clear migration roadmap, while Solana, Algorand, and Aptos have either begun offering or are planning quantum-resistant solutions.
