Odaily News: Ethereum infrastructure company Blockspace announced its establishment, aiming to improve Ethereum's off-protocol infrastructure and facilitate more global applications' access to Ethereum blockspace.Blockspace stated that Ethereum's core business is providing blockspace. Currently, over 90% of global Ethereum blockspace traffic relies on infrastructure outside the protocol, which still has gaps in economic models, reliability, performance, and service capabilities. Blockspace recently completed a funding round led by BlueYard Capital, with participation from ether.fi Ventures, Quasar, SharpLink Gaming, and other institutions.Blockspace stated that it will collaborate with the Blockspace Forum and the broader Ethereum community in the future to accelerate the development of off-protocol infrastructure in Ethereum's transaction process. Its business model relies entirely on ETH. The company will operate and support Ethereum infrastructure, including staking operations, earning transaction fee rewards from blocks generated by its staked ETH, and then reinvesting the proceeds into staking.
According to Konsulteer, blockchain rewards platform Bundle announced the completion of a $5.5 million Pre-Seed funding round, co-led by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin's Ethereal Ventures and Further Ventures, with participation from institutions including Nascent, GSR, Scenius Capital, Anchorage Digital, and Nuwa Capital.
According to QCP Group, the US Treasury, via the New York Fed, jointly purchased yen with the Japanese Ministry of Finance last Friday, marking the first US-Japan joint foreign exchange intervention action specifically to support the yen since 1998. Meanwhile, the US 30-year Treasury yield briefly rose to about 5.27%, hitting a new high since 2007, before falling back to 5.24%. QCP pointed out that the transmission path of this intervention to the crypto market mainly unfolds through yen carry trades—rapid yen appreciation may force investors holding yen funding positions to deleverage and buy back yen, subsequently affecting risk assets including BTC and ETH, reenacting the market volatility triggered by carry trade unwinding in August 2024. QCP reminded that current macro monitoring indicators should take the USD/JPY exchange rate, Japan funding costs, and US long-end Treasury yields into consideration; fiscal policy operations are increasingly becoming an important variable affecting the direction of global liquidity.
Brokerage firm TD Cowen lowered Sharplink's target price from $16 to $13, as it reduced its Ethereum price forecast for the end of 2026 to $2,371. However, TD Cowen still maintains a "Buy" rating on Sharplink, stating that the company recently completed a $75 million financing, purchased 10,000 ETH, and initiated a 2.13 million share buyback, indicating that its capital reserve execution continues to advance.

According to Sifted, ETH Zurich spin-off startup ZuriQ announced the completion of a $25.5 million seed funding round. The company is dedicated to developing a new quantum chip architecture, which reportedly offers greater scalability compared to existing solutions and is expected to accelerate the scaling process in the field of quantum computing.
Coinbase Institutional and Glassnode have jointly released a market report, maintaining a neutral outlook on the cryptocurrency market for the third quarter of 2026. In the second quarter, the total market capitalization of the crypto market (excluding stablecoins) declined by approximately 12%, while stablecoin supply reached an all-time high. On-chain data suggests that Bitcoin may be transitioning from a correction phase to an accumulation phase, characterized by compressed valuations, near-multi-year lows in recent active supply, and the proportion of supply in profit breaking below historical statistical lower bounds—historically corresponding to accumulation rather than distribution zones. However, the macro liquidity environment remains tight, with the Federal Reserve maintaining a hawkish stance under Kevin Warsh's leadership, a strong U.S. dollar, coupled with geopolitical risks, selling pressure from digital asset treasuries, and net outflows from spot BTC and ETH ETFs in the first half of the year (though the pace of outflows has begun to slow), thus overall caution is advised.
According to Odaily, blockchain analytics platform Bubblemaps has disclosed that a mysterious whale address cluster within the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem has held approximately 103 trillion SHIB since 2020. The entity initially spent just 38 ETH (roughly $10,000 at the time) to build the position, which once peaked at an unrealized valuation exceeding $50 billion, marking one of the most astonishing investment cases in crypto market history.Bubblemaps' tracking reveals that the whale initially purchased 103 trillion SHIB through the wallet address 0x1406, accounting for about 10% of the circulating supply at the time. As the SHIB price surged, the position's value once reached approximately $5 billion. Currently, the address cluster's holdings are still valued at over $2.5 billion, representing a cumulative return of more than 21,000 times. To reduce exposure risk, the whale split the assets across 14 addresses in November 2021. In January 2023, Bubblemaps first disclosed this SHIB whale cluster, which then controlled about 10% of the SHIB supply, valued at over $1 billion, sparking community discussions about high concentration of holdings by a single entity.Subsequently, the address cluster underwent continuous address migration and splitting. In September 2023, Bubblemaps found that its holdings had spread from a few prominent wallets to many new addresses, a typical tactic to reduce on-chain visibility. Using its Magic Nodes tool, Bubblemaps was still able to identify the connections between these wallets.During the SHIB price surge in early 2024, the whale's position value exceeded $2 billion again, with the number of wallets expanding to over 170 addresses. As of now, the cluster still controls approximately 8.51% of the SHIB circulating supply, a decrease from the initial 10% ratio. However, Bubblemaps notes that this is primarily due to normal on-chain transfers, with no signs of large-scale selling detected.Bubblemaps points out that this case highlights the significant value of on-chain transparency tools: an entity can conceal massive holdings by splitting wallets, but all fund transfers leave public on-chain records. This SHIB whale case has also become a typical example for observing "whale behavior, holding concentration, and on-chain tracking" within the crypto market.
According to The Block, Shuyao Kong, a core team member of Ethereum scaling project MegaETH, announced on July 16 the official closure of the flagship accelerator program Mega Mafia, which operated for two years across two cohorts. The project incubated approximately 20 teams in total, cumulatively helping them raise about $80 million in financing (covering Pre-Seed to Series A), but Kong admitted "the project was built on assumptions that no longer hold true," and most successfully incubated applications are no longer building on MegaETH. Among them, flagship project GTE chose to build its own public chain, Noise shifted to Base, HelloTrade shifted to Monad, and some projects such as Avon and Valhalla have closed. Notably, MegaETH did not hold equity or governance rights in any project during the incubation process. Kong stated that MegaETH will shift resources to "first-party application" development in the future, directly establishing relationships with end users, focusing on "OMEGA"-level consumer applications that can only be realized on MegaETH.
According to The Block, JPMorgan analysts pointed out in their latest report that although Strategy's Bitcoin selling plan has triggered market attention, it is not the core risk facing Bitcoin. The real structural threat lies in the fact that blockchain applications such as tokenization, payments, and settlements are increasingly occurring on permissioned chains (Permissioned Blockchain), rather than on public chains such as Ethereum. If this trend continues, the public chain ecosystem will face issues such as declining liquidity and weakened capital inflows, ultimately dragging down Bitcoin valuations. The analysts also warned that the proliferation of bank-built blockchain infrastructure and tokenized deposits could undermine the position of stablecoins in institutional payments; regulated alternatives such as SWIFT's blockchain plan, the digital euro, and the digital yuan also constitute competitive pressure. However, the analysts also pointed out that if hybrid public-private chain models emerge, stablecoin regulation becomes clearer, or Bitcoin continues to be held as "digital gold", the aforementioned risks may be mitigated.
Ethlabs posted on X platform to address its non-profit positioning and funding situation. It stated that the choice to operate as a non-profit structure is to focus on the long-term development needs of Ethereum as a "public good" and to maintain the organization's independence and neutrality in research and development.Regarding governance structure, Ethlabs pointed out that its funding comes from large ETH holders and builders within the Ethereum ecosystem. These funders are closely aligned with the long-term success of Ethereum but will not receive any governance control, nor will they participate in roadmap formulation or project priority decisions. Ethlabs emphasized that this arrangement is a deliberate design aimed at preventing external capital from influencing its core direction.Meanwhile, Ethlabs indicated that the future continuous fundraising mechanism itself acts as a "accountability mechanism." Only by consistently creating real value for the Ethereum ecosystem can it secure subsequent funding support, thereby forming a long-term feedback loop.In terms of funding, Ethlabs revealed that it is currently in the final stages of fundraising and has not yet disclosed the specific amount. However, the pledged funding commitments are expected to support an operational cycle of 2 to 3 years and cover the needs for recruiting top-tier talent. Ethlabs emphasized its positioning as a long-term project, not a one-time grant program.
Ethereum non-profit research and development organization Ethlabs released an FAQ stating that current funding commitments can support the team's operations for the next 2 to 3 years, and will continue to pursue subsequent fundraising, with the community funding round still open.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov has responded to reports suggesting Kraken's parent company Payward is interested in acquiring a 15% stake in the Aave protocol, stating that AAVE is "not going to be sold at a 70% discount."Prior reports from CoinDesk indicated that Payward was in talks to acquire a 15% stake in Aave at a valuation of $385 million. If calculated at this valuation, it would represent only approximately 30% of AAVE's fully diluted valuation, significantly below the market valuation. In a post on X, Kulechov stated that the relevant reports were not entirely accurate. He did not completely deny the possibility of Aave Labs selling a portion of its held AAVE tokens, but noted that Aave Labs does have a certain allocation of AAVE, and that multiple market participants have discussed purchasing either directly or indirectly, or engaging in deeper collaboration centered around long-term partnerships.Aave is the largest decentralized lending protocol on the Ethereum ecosystem. Kulechov stated that Aave currently generates an annualized revenue of approximately $134 million, with the relevant revenue flowing to the Aave DAO. He has also previously proposed a governance plan to redirect revenue from Aave Labs, the protocol, and its products to the Aave DAO and token holders. These rumors emerge at a time when Aave is experiencing certain pressures. Following the Kelp DAO incident in April, Aave's TVL saw a significant decline. Although Aave itself was not directly attacked, the KelpDAO cross-chain bridge attacker utilized Aave to convert the stolen rsETH into other assets.

Standard Chartered Bank has initiated coverage on the decentralized exchange protocol Uniswap, predicting its UNI token could rise from its current price of approximately $2.70 to $100 by the end of 2030, representing a gain of nearly 40 times.Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, stated that the next wave of wealth creation opportunities in the digital asset space may come from DeFi protocols. The core logic is that the scale of tokenized assets entering DeFi will grow significantly, thereby enhancing the trading asset base and fee potential for protocols like Uniswap.Standard Chartered estimates that tokenized assets on-chain will grow from approximately $340 billion today to $4 trillion by the end of 2028. Of this, the proportion flowing into DeFi is expected to rise from roughly 3.5% currently to 30% by the end of 2030. Combined with the growth of crypto-native assets, the total value locked in DeFi could reach approximately $2.7 trillion, an increase of about 37 times compared to today.Kendrick believes that if Uniswap can successfully commercialize and establish sufficient partnerships with traditional financial institutions, its valuation multiple relative to trading fees could improve, narrowing the gap with centralized exchanges like Coinbase.Standard Chartered's projected price path for UNI is: $6.50 by the end of 2026, $20 by the end of 2027, $40 by the end of 2028, $65 by the end of 2029, and $100 by the end of 2030. The bank also expects UNI to potentially outperform ETH and BTC during this period.
Odaily News Analysts believe that SpaceX's upcoming IPO could become a new source of short-term pressure for Bitcoin and the crypto market. As the company is reportedly set to open up to 30% of its IPO shares to retail investors, some investors may sell high-risk assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum to free up capital to participate in this high-profile offering.SpaceX plans to issue shares at $135 each, aiming to raise $75 billion, with a valuation of approximately $1.77 trillion. A GSR trading executive noted that crypto assets could become one of the funding sources for some investors looking to raise capital for the IPO.Recently, there have been views suggesting that hot IPOs like SpaceX, and potentially future ones such as OpenAI and Anthropic, could drive capital outflows from the crypto market, putting pressure on Bitcoin and Ethereum prices. However, SpaceX's listing could also conversely boost on-chain trading activity. Currently, platforms like Hyperliquid and Binance already offer SpaceX-related perpetual contracts and tokenized stock products, and trading activity for these assets may increase further with the IPO.
10x Research stated that Bitmine raised a total of $1.92 billion through 50 equity issuances between July 2025 and June 2026, allocating nearly all proceeds toward purchasing 5,543,872 ETH—approximately 4.6% of the circulating supply. At $1,650 per ETH, its current reserve value stands at roughly $9.1 billion, resulting in an unrealized loss of approximately $10.1 billion for investors, representing a 52% drawdown from invested capital.
