Odaily News: Bitcoin News posted on X platform that a new technical analysis released by @KLoaec shows that some vulnerable COLDCARD Mk3 wallets may be generated from only approximately 4.5 million random number generator starting states, which can be searched in about 3 seconds on a single RTX 4090 GPU. Even accounting for additional uncertainty in each wallet's generation method, an attacker could complete the search in about 50 minutes on a single high-end GPU. More critically, this vulnerability could cause different devices to generate identical mnemonic phrases. Assuming 30,000 Mk3 devices, the analysis estimates that approximately 120 pairs of devices could generate the same random number stream. This collision estimate is theoretical but indicates that duplicate mnemonic generation across different devices may be possible.
Odaily News Tether-backed bitcoin treasury company Twenty One Capital (NYSE: XXI) has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, reporting a net loss of $413.5 million, primarily driven by a decline in the value of its bitcoin holdings.According to the financial report, approximately $401.5 million of Twenty One Capital's second-quarter loss was attributable to a decrease in the book value of its bitcoin assets. As the company uses bitcoin as its core asset allocation, fluctuations in BTC prices directly impact its financial performance.New CEO Raphael Zagury stated that Twenty One Capital can no longer exist solely as a "Bitcoin treasury" company, but needs to transform into a broader financial services platform. Zagury outlined that the company's next phase of plans will focus on three key directions, including: expanding its business footprint through mergers and acquisitions; enhancing financing capabilities through capital market instruments; and exploring bitcoin-collateralized lending businesses. Odaily News: Bitcoin advocate Samson Mow stated in a post that comparing BIP-110 to BIP-148 from 2017 is not accurate. BIP-148 at the time gained participation from developers, exchanges, wallets, miners, and large holders, securing support across economic weight, hash power, and node consensus. In contrast, BIP-110 currently primarily receives support only from a subset of nodes. Mow also noted that SegWit was ultimately adopted by miners through BIP-141 via BIP-91, and while BIP-148 formed a credible threat, it never actually underwent a chain split test. MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor reposted the post.
Odaily News – Luke Dashjr, co-founder, chairman, and CTO of Jack Dorsey-backed Bitcoin mining pool Ocean, has announced he is temporarily stepping away from these roles to focus on Bitcoin and open-source project development. Ocean's communications lead, Bitcoin Mechanic, has also announced a temporary departure. Both have stated this is a temporary leave of absence rather than a permanent resignation. The BIP-110 minority chain has mined only two blocks since splitting at block height 961,632, and has since stalled due to inheriting Bitcoin's 127,480,000 difficulty and a relatively low share of SHA-256d hashrate. Bitcoin Knots developers are preparing a hard fork that plans to reset the proof-of-work, adjust the block header, and add replay protection.Developers plan to select the new PoW algorithm from BLAKE2b-256, SHA3x, BLAKE2s, Scrypt, BLAKE3x2, and Eaglesong, using a commit-reveal mechanism, with the algorithm to be determined by the next block produced after 14:00 UTC the following day. Dashjr, Kyle, and Chris Guida are respectively responsible for the block header and PoW, replay protection, and RDTS adaptation. BIP-110 shares transaction history with Bitcoin, and developers believe changes such as transaction signatures are needed to prevent Bitcoin transactions from becoming valid on the minority chain. The Bitcoin community has criticized the fork for producing only two blocks so far, arguing that nodes can execute custom rules but cannot compel users, miners, exchanges, and businesses to switch to the chain. Wintermute released a market update noting that U.S. non-farm payrolls in July unexpectedly decreased by 23,000, significantly weaker than market expectations, pushing September rate hike expectations down from 55% to 40% and driving a broad rebound in risk assets. Gold led the weekly gains, with Nasdaq, S&P 500, Bitcoin, and altcoins generally rising, while Brent crude oil fell 6.85%.
Bitcoin analyst Plan B stated on the X platform that the core of Bitcoin's long-term value lies in scarcity, not short-term price fluctuations.Plan B believes that many people focus on Bitcoin's price charts, while the S2F model he uses focuses on the degree of asset scarcity. This model measures scarcity through "existing supply ÷ annual new production," where the S2F for gold is approximately 60. Due to Bitcoin's fixed total supply of 21 million coins and its predictable issuance schedule, its S2F is currently around 120 and continues to rise over time. The Bitcoin halving mechanism is an important driver of the S2F model. Approximately every four years, the Bitcoin network reduces the block reward by half, decreasing new supply and roughly doubling the S2F level, making it the core supply-side event observed by the model.Plan B emphasized that the S2F and its upgraded version, the S2FX model, predict long-term average value rather than precisely forecasting market tops or bottoms. Bitcoin's price typically fluctuates around the model's estimated value, and investors should focus on multi-year cycle averages rather than single-day price highs. Additionally, Plan B believes that as scarcity increases, Bitcoin is undergoing different stages of development, including proof of concept, payment network, "digital gold"/store of value asset, and institutional-grade financial asset. Each increase in scarcity could bring new market narratives and capital inflows. However, Plan B also reiterated that "all models are wrong, but some are useful." He stated that the S2F model is merely a tool for long-term understanding of Bitcoin's scarcity, not a trading signal or a "crystal ball" for price prediction. Although the model has withstood major events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and China's mining ban, it still has limitations.
The Bitcoin rule change proposed by BIP-110 triggered a chain fork on Saturday, with the fork chain producing only 2 blocks so far before stalling. Since the fork chain inherits the high mining difficulty of the Bitcoin mainnet and its token has no market value, miners lack the incentive to support it, causing the chain to lag the mainnet by 326 blocks. The fork chain must reach 2,016 blocks before mining difficulty can be reduced, which is currently estimated to take over six more years. Some observers say it is still too early to declare the attempt a failure. (CoinDesk)
Last week, major assets closed higher across the board: July Non-Farm Payrolls -23k severely dampened rate hike expectations, the USD broke below 100, and Gold and Crypto benefited in tandem. BTC/ETH ETF weekly net inflows were $853M/$245M, the third-largest institutional buying week of the year. Core risk this week: 8/12 CPI (08:30 ET), determining the direction of September rate hike expectations. Strategy advances on three fronts: Sell ETH weekly expiry $1,800 P (annualized ~15-20%), Sell HYPE 1D $52 P (annualized ~70%, newly listed on Bybit), Sell XAUT 1D $4,360 C (annualized ~30-60%). All three positions must be reduced to safe levels before CPI.
Odaily News: Luke Dashjr announced on X that he will temporarily step down from his roles as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of OCEAN, shifting his focus to Bitcoin and the open-source projects that support it.Luke Dashjr is a core supporter of BIP-110, but as of August 9, OCEAN's default stratum endpoint has reverted to the non-BIP-110 chain, and miners' hashing power is no longer being directed to the BIP-110 chain by default.
According to the official announcement, Upbit will list DOS KRW, BTC, and USDT trading pairs.
Odaily Planet Daily Report: Arthur Hayes stated on the X platform that his article "Yen-quake" will introduce how Buffalo Bill Bessent plans to manipulate the dollar-yen exchange rate and restart the money printing press. Arthur Hayes said that over the past decade, the continued weakening of the yen has driven gains in global asset markets, but this situation will eventually come to an end. The yen is the lowest-valued currency globally and is also a point of contention among the United States, China, and Japanese everyday voters. There are three ways to resolve the yen issue, but the U.S. Treasury and Japanese politicians tend to favor only one of them. He will explain the operating mechanisms of each yen appreciation method and why the final option is the preferred approach; he will then discuss how to execute the third option at the political level. He stated that as dollar liquidity rises significantly, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will rally. The three options include: 1. The Bank of Japan sharply raises interest rates, causing the dollar-yen interest rate differential to disappear, at least on the short end. 2. The government persuades domestic institutions and public bodies such as GPIF to change their investment mandates, selling overseas assets and buying local assets. 3. Preferred option: The Japanese Ministry of Finance conducts repurchase transactions of its U.S. Treasury holdings with the Federal Reserve in exchange for dollars; it then sells dollars and buys yen in the foreign exchange market. Arthur Hayes said that before getting into the details, speculators should consider why yen appreciation is being discussed now. Over the past few decades, many have claimed that the yen was about to appreciate and trigger a global unwinding of carry trades. Two weeks ago, monetary policy officials from the United States and Japan conducted a joint exchange rate manipulation operation, though they euphemistically called it intervention. U.S. Treasury Secretary Buffalo Bill Bessent indicated a desire to raise the counterparty limit for the FIMA repo facility, enabling Japan's Ministry of Finance to use its massive asset reserves to defend the yen. Japan's Ministry of Finance also stated it is working closely with the United States to push the dollar-yen exchange rate lower. Relevant officials are signaling to the market their support for a shift in global currency relations, so the market must pay attention to this.
Odaily News: The U.S. Senate will hold a procedural cloture vote on a motion related to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) at 2:15 PM ET on September 15. This marks the first full Senate vote on the bill since it passed the House in July 2025. The bill is numbered H.R. 3633 and was previously passed by the House with 294 votes in favor and 134 votes against. The vote concerns whether to limit debate on the motion to proceed with the bill; supporters need 60 votes to succeed. Republicans currently hold 53 seats in the Senate. If all Republican senators vote in favor, they would still need 7 additional votes; any absence or opposition would increase the number of additional votes required. If the procedural vote passes, the subsequent debate time on the motion to proceed will be capped at 30 hours, after which the Senate will vote on the motion itself. Only if the motion is approved will the bill be formally considered, and the bill itself will still need to pass another 60-vote cloture motion. If the Senate amends the text, the revised version would need to be sent back to the House for a vote. (Bitcoin.com News)
According to Cryptopolitan, Bitcoin mining company Keel Infrastructure (formerly Bitfarms) released its Q2 2026 financial report this Monday, disclosing that the company has completed the shutdown of all its US Bitcoin mining farms, and sold 1,085 BTC between April 1 and August 7, cashing out approximately $75 million, and currently still holds 1,861 BTC on its balance sheet, valued at approximately $121 million. Financially, Keel's Q2 revenue was $30 million, down 50% year-over-year, mainly dragged down by weak Bitcoin prices and the shutdown of the Moses Lake mining farm; operating loss reached $141 million (including $84 million in non-cash depreciation), net loss from continuing operations was $64 million, and adjusted EBITDA was negative $24 million. Following the announcement, KEEL stock price fell more than 11% in a single day. In terms of strategic transformation, Keel is converting its core sites in Pennsylvania, Washington State, and Quebec into high-performance computing data centers; currently, permitting approvals for the three priority sites are nearly complete, and negotiations with potential tenants are underway. The company's current liquidity is approximately $819 million, including $698 million in unrestricted cash and $121 million in Bitcoin, and during the quarter, it also raised $458 million through convertible notes.
According to The Block, open-source Bitcoin payment processor BTCPay Server disclosed a critical security vulnerability being actively exploited last Friday and urgently requested users to upgrade to version 2.4.2. The vulnerability affects all versions prior to 2.4.2; attackers can use it to steal administrator macaroon authentication credentials of LND nodes, thereby fully controlling the connected Lightning Network wallets. Users such as Foundation and Citadel21 have confirmed that their Lightning node funds were drained, but BTCPay has not publicly disclosed the total amount stolen or the number of affected nodes. Currently, the official release version 2.4.2 has fixed this vulnerability, and on-chain hot wallets are not affected. The BTCPay Server Foundation has donated 0.21 BTC each to security researcher Craig Raw and Bitcoin Red Team to commend their responsible private disclosure of the vulnerability. Meanwhile, BTCPay supporters have promised to provide a bounty incentive of "10% of recovered funds," capped at 3 BTC.
According to Bitcoin.com, cybersecurity company Genians Security Center released an analysis report stating that the North Korean Reconnaissance General Bureau-affiliated hacker group Kimsuky is building and testing an AI-centric cyberattack tool suite. Researchers discovered traces of the deployment of three local AI platforms, Ollama, GPT4All, and Msty, in their infrastructure, as well as AI development framework components such as Microsoft Semantic Kernel and LLaMaSharp, indicating that the organization is systematically developing dedicated AI attack tools rather than just making temporary attempts. Since early 2026, Kimsuky has used high-quality documents created by generative AI for spear-phishing attacks targeting the virtual assets, financial investment, and game development sectors; AI-generated professional documents have significantly reduced the effectiveness of traditional phishing email identification. The attack vector consists of ZIP archives disguised as legitimate documents, containing malicious LNK files that can silently execute PowerShell commands in the background after being triggered.
"Set 10 Big Goals First" (@jasonleo) posted on X platform, stating that as Bitcoin failed to hold above $65,000, they have reduced about two-thirds of their long positions above the cost price, with holdings decreasing from approximately 3,500 BTC to around 1,240 BTC, while retaining part of the position for further observation. The position screenshot they shared shows they are currently long 1,241.644 BTC with 5x leverage, at an average entry price of approximately $63,967.54, with margin of about $15.87 million, unrealized loss of roughly $52,000, and a liquidation price of approximately $29,267.82.
: Bitcoin News stated on the X platform that Luke Dashjr said the developer meeting "went smoothly" and related plans are moving forward, proposing to change Bitcoin's proof-of-work algorithm via a hard fork. Developers are expected to announce the selected hash algorithm tomorrow and enable RTDS starting from the first block. Block size reduction and replay protection are also under discussion. The news comes amid reports that Dashjr is no longer a licensed user of the BIP content repository. If the proposal is implemented, the proof-of-work algorithm change would create an independent blockchain, effectively forming a new altcoin, with existing BTC holders receiving tokens on the forked chain.
Odaily News: Sui posted on X, stating that the Hashi testnet dashboard now displays real-time deposit and withdrawal records, and expressed gratitude to the Sui and Bitcoin communities for testing Hashi and driving its improvements.
Odaily News: UAE-based foundation Aqua1 Foundation purchased $100 million worth of governance tokens from decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial (WLFI) on June 26, marking the largest single publicly disclosed purchase of the token to date. The funds trace back to Chinese businessman Guren "Bobby" Zhou, with up to $75 million flowing to entities linked to the Trump family and World Liberty Financial co-founder Zach Witkoff. WLFI tokens confer governance and voting rights and do not represent equity in the company. Zhou was arrested in the UK in March 2021 on suspicion of money laundering, with UK law enforcement investigations still ongoing as of late July 2026. Two of his long-time employees were indicted in September 2025, one of whom has pleaded guilty, with trial scheduled for 2028. Zhou has not yet been formally charged. Zhou met with Eric Trump in Dubai to discuss the investment and described it as participation in the "Trump family's crypto project." The source of the $100 million Aqua1 used to purchase WLFI remains unclear, and public information does not indicate any direct link between these specific funds and money laundering activities.
