BIP-110 Developer Plan: Hard Fork on September 1 to Change Bitcoin's Proof-of-Work Algorithm

Source: x.com Event types: Online/Update
: Bitcoin News stated on the X platform that Luke Dashjr said the developer meeting "went smoothly" and related plans are moving forward, proposing to change Bitcoin's proof-of-work algorithm via a hard fork. Developers are expected to announce the selected hash algorithm tomorrow and enable RTDS starting from the first block. Block size reduction and replay protection are also under discussion. The news comes amid reports that Dashjr is no longer a licensed user of the BIP content repository. If the proposal is implemented, the proof-of-work algorithm change would create an independent blockchain, effectively forming a new altcoin, with existing BTC holders receiving tokens on the forked chain.
