According to an October 19 report on the official website of the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna), a joint operation involving the Warmian-Masurian Border Detachment of the Polish Border Guard, the Central Bureau of Investigation into Cybercrime (CBZC) in Łódź, and the Gdańsk unit of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) dismantled a transnational money laundering network and arrested nine suspects in Warsaw. The group comprises eight Ukrainian nationals (including three women) and one Belarusian woman. The case is being investigated under the supervision of the Łódź Regional Prosecutor's Office. Investigations revealed that the gang operated across Warsaw, Lublin, Wrocław, Katowice, and Gdańsk. They laundered proceeds from criminal activities such as investment platform frauds and cryptocurrency investment scams. The organization maintained clear operational divisions, with command led by a 34-year-old Ukrainian national who directed cash intake and the routing of funds both domestically and internationally. The syndicate transferred illicit funds through currency exchange points and fictitious gold purchase transactions, handling aggregate transaction values exceeding 337 million zloty. Police conducted searches at residences, office premises, and exchange booths, seizing over 1 million zloty worth of gold and cash, as well as electronic devices including computers and mobile phones. The court has ordered three-month provisional detention for six individuals and a two-month detention term for one person. The remaining two suspects are subject to property bail, a travel ban, and police supervision. Those involved face potential prison sentences of up to 15 years.
