Ethereum core developers submit "Decoupled Consensus" EIP draft, proposing to decouple chain head voting from finality voting.
According to GitHub, Ben Edgington (@benjaminion) submitted a core-layer EIP draft titled "Decoupled Consensus" on October 21. The proposal introduces a new consensus mechanism for the beacon chain, separating chain head voting from finality attestations to enhance reorg resistance and accelerate final confirmation.
The proposal outlines three primary objectives: laying the groundwork for future post-quantum (PQ) upgrades, improving fork choice security, and shortening final confirmation time.
