According to BeInCrypto, Shopify (SHOP) announced its second-quarter earnings on August 5, with revenue growing 34% year-over-year to $3.58 billion, beating market expectations by $140 million, and raised its third-quarter guidance, causing the stock price to surge 17% that day. Previously, there were widespread market concerns that "Vibe Coding" (AI natural language programming tools) would enable small and medium merchants to bypass Shopify to build their own e-commerce systems, threatening its business model. In response, CNBC host Jim Cramer publicly slammed the aforementioned logic, noting that small and medium-sized enterprises generally lack the capability to build and maintain business software, and AI tools cannot change this reality. Shopify President Harley Finkelstein also responded, stating that the AI wave is spawning a large number of new entrepreneurs entering the market, and the increase in new stores actually brings more potential users to Shopify, "AI is creating customers, not cutting customers."
