AI Data Centers Spark "Power War": U.S. Moves to Accelerate Grid Connection for Large-Scale Computing Facilities

the AI boom has led to a surge in electricity demand from data centers across the United States, causing electricity prices to continue rising in many areas and prompting power outage warnings in some regions. To alleviate the power supply dilemma, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the 18th required regional grid operators to consider new agreements to expedite the grid connection process for large electricity consumers like data centers. The commission also stated that it will no longer proactively consider environmental impacts under the U.S. National Environmental Policy Act when formulating rules going forward.According to data from the Data Center Map website, there are currently over 4,000 operational data centers in the U.S., with a vast number more in the planning or construction phase. However, the pace of data center construction far outstrips the speed at which new power plants can be brought online, compounded by slow grid interconnection timelines. As a result, major tech giants across the country are scrambling to secure electricity quotas for their facilities. Statistics from the Electric Power Research Institute indicate that data centers currently consume about 5% of total U.S. electricity demand, a share that could rise to approximately 20% by 2035. Blockworks joins Coinbase and other crypto institutions to establish a Token Disclosure Alliance, promoting transparent disclosure standards akin to the stock market

the "Transparency Alliance," initiated by Blockworks, has been officially established, garnering support from over 40 crypto enterprises including Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance.US. The alliance aims to jointly develop unified token information disclosure standards to enhance market transparency and attract institutional capital. Based on Blockworks' Token Transparency Framework, the alliance seeks to establish a standardized information disclosure mechanism for crypto assets, similar to that of the stock market, enabling investors to gain a clearer understanding of token structures and risks.Reportedly, the framework covers details such as token issuance structure, internal holdings allocation, market maker arrangements, exchange listing terms, and repurchase mechanisms. It distinguishes between two types of document systems: "one-time pre-issuance disclosure" and "ongoing update disclosure." To date, 44 projects, including Morpho, Jupiter, Spark, and dYdX, have completed the relevant filings.Industry insiders point out that this initiative aims to establish a unified information infrastructure for the crypto market to meet institutional investors' demands for transparency and compliance. Blockworks stated that it has communicated with relevant personnel from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Analysts believe that this alliance signifies the crypto industry is accelerating its shift towards an "institutionalized information disclosure system." However, its ultimate impact will depend on whether the market translates these disclosure standards into widespread industry consensus. (CoinDesk)

according to on-chain analyst Ai Yi's monitoring, the Hyperliquid whale (0x410…75d08), who previously profited $3.5 million by shorting 16 altcoins, withdrew 7,863 ETH from Spark an hour ago and subsequently deposited all of it into Binance, suspected of selling. A week ago, this whale also transferred 6,860 ETH (approximately $10.8 million) to an exchange.

Polymarket Integrates Spark, Enabling Instant Deposits via Bitcoin Lightning Network

Polymarket has integrated Spark, a Bitcoin Layer 2 payment protocol, allowing users to make instant deposits via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.According to the report, Spark will provide underlying payment infrastructure for Polymarket, enabling users to deposit directly with BTC, with funds arriving in seconds. Compared to traditional on-chain Bitcoin transfers, which take 30 minutes to 1 hour for confirmation, this offers faster speed, lower costs, and greater privacy. This integration is also part of Polymarket's ongoing efforts to enhance the Bitcoin payment experience, following its earlier move to support Bitcoin deposits. (Digital Assets)

F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun has bought approximately 65,700 ETH and 966 WBTC since the beginning of this month, valued at around $171 million

According to on-chain analyst Yujian monitoring, F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun (@satofishi, 0xF42...b51) withdrew 9,937 ETH (worth $15.5 million) and 147.5 WBTC (worth $8.7 million) from Binance in the past 6 hours today, and subsequently deposited them into Spark. Google Gemini Spark Agent Globally Available, Can Book Flights and Organize Inbox

Google made the Gemini Spark agent available to most users globally on July 31. Integrated with the Chrome browser, the agent can use saved account passwords upon user authorization to perform web operations on behalf of the user, such as searching for flights, booking tickets, and checking saved listings. It can also organize inboxes, summarize emails, and unsubscribe from services. Spark provides two security mechanisms: it defends against prompt injection attacks and hands over sensitive operations such as payments to the user to complete. This marks a new development in Google's implementation of browser AI agents.

Analyst: Aftermath of rsETH Security Incident Continues; Demand for ETH Leveraged Loops Notably Cools

: On-chain analyst Tom Wan stated on platform X that the current ETH utilization rate has dropped below 90%, and the lending APY has fallen to 1.9%. Since the rsETH LayerZero cross-chain bridge was attacked, the deposits of wstETH and weETH have decreased by approximately $1.2 billion and $1.76 billion, respectively. As the strategy of leveraged looping wstETH/weETH against ETH becomes profitable again, market attention is turning to whether demand for ETH leveraged loops will return, or if capital will continue to wait on the sidelines or flow into protocols like Spark and Morpho.

Spark: Total SPK staked surpasses 500 million tokens

Spark announced on X that the total staked native token SPK has just surpassed 500 million tokens, reaching 509,969,466 tokens according to its displayed data. Users staking SPK can now participate in Season 4 of the Spark Points Program and earn points rewards. Previously, due to the rsETH security incident, funds continuously flowed out of Aave, while Spark absorbed some of the capital withdrawn by large whales/institutions from Aave.

Spark: Tightening Collateral Scope Leads to Business Loss but Ensures Liquidity Safety

According to monetsupply.eth, Spark’s Strategy Lead, in a post on X, Spark has long maintained a relatively high borrowing interest rate cap for its SparkLend ETH market. Although this policy caused many users to migrate to Aave—resulting in substantial loss of business and revenue—the current market liquidity crisis has validated the prudence of this strategy. Presently, Aave is experiencing severe liquidity shortages across multiple chains—including Ethereum Mainnet, Arbitrum, Polygon Plasma, Mantle, and Base—with ETH borrowing utilization reaching 100%. This has prevented depositors from withdrawing funds and hindered normal liquidation of ETH collateral. He warns that if the current liquidity crunch persists, a 15–20% drop in ETH’s price could expose Aave to widespread bad debt—compounded by the potential impact of the rsETH vulnerability incident.

Uniswap Launches DualPool Hook, Enabling Market Makers to Generate Lending Returns from Idle Liquidity Assets

Uniswap has announced the official launch of the DualPool Hook. DualPool is an open-source Uniswap v4 Hook, jointly designed and developed by Spark and Uniswap Labs, which allows market makers to deposit idle assets into lending protocols to earn yields while waiting for liquidity funds to be matched, and to recall funds to the liquidity pool when a trade occurs. From an external perspective, DualPool is indistinguishable from a regular Uniswap v4 liquidity pool; traders, aggregators, and solvers still execute transactions through the Pool Manager. Its internal mechanism involves storing liquidity funds in an ERC-4626 yield vault, automatically withdrawing funds to deploy into concentrated liquidity positions when a trade needs to be executed, thereby ensuring transaction execution while allowing idle funds to continuously generate lending returns.
