Stablecoin remittance costs are approximately 84% lower than traditional transfers, with settlement taking as little as 2 minutes.

As reported by Cointelegraph, a third-quarter report published by the stablecoin payment network Borderless.xyz indicates that the median cost of sending a $200 remittance via stablecoins is 1% (approximately $2), compared to 6.36% (approximately $12.72) for traditional remittances, representing a cost reduction of approximately 84%. This comparison uses Borderless's third-quarter 2026 pricing against World Bank data from the same period in 2025. Regionally, stablecoin remittance costs in sub-Saharan Africa stand at 2.9%, versus 8.46% for traditional methods; in Latin America, they are 1.25% and 5.64%, respectively. For corporate payments, a $10,000 transfer to the eurozone incurs a minimum fee of approximately $26 from the lowest-cost provider, while the median provider across all channels charges $52, and traditional bank wire fees range from $135 to $150. Regarding settlement speed, the median processing time on Brazil's PIX network is 2 minutes, Mexico's SPEI is 3 minutes, and Colombia's PSE is 2 minutes. Traditional SWIFT transfers typically require the next business day, with the slowest 10% taking up to 3 business days. However, success rates vary significantly across networks: Mexico's SPEI sits at 98.6%, Brazil's PIX at 97.8%, Colombia's PSE at 79%, and Costa Rica's SINPE is only 73%.

Vitalik: Ethereum Foundation Announces ~40% Budget Cut; PSE Department Dissolved and Multiple Strategic Contraction Measures Advanced

Vitalik Buterin (@VitalikButerin) announced that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) will cut its 2026 budget by approximately 40%, aiming to gradually reduce its annual spending ratio from roughly 15% to about 5% post-2030 and transition toward a long-term endowment fund model. This adjustment entails several major changes: - The Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) team is formally disbanded, with work refocused on building concrete, high-priority technologies already identified as critical; - The multi-client model shifts from redundancy-based security to specialized division of labor, incorporating AI-assisted formal verification; - Devcon’s scale will be progressively reduced; - EF’s involvement in large-scale projects outside Ethereum will decrease, with related work instead funded personally by Vitalik. Vitalik stated that once the Ethereum “Strawmap” is completed, EF’s efforts will center primarily on security fixes and small, high-value modifications, while imposing higher thresholds for new feature proposals—moving closer to Bitcoin’s lean, minimalist model.
