Iranian Official: Plans to Attack Crude Oil Export Facilities Aim to Hit Trump Ahead of U.S. Midterm Elections

A senior Iranian official has stated that Tehran is planning to wage an economic war, including attacks on oil bypass export facilities in the Gulf region, with the aim of driving up U.S. gasoline prices and undermining the support rate of Trump's party ahead of the U.S. November midterm elections. According to the official's description, the targets of this plan will include two major alternative routes used by shippers to avoid the Strait of Hormuz: Saudi Arabia's Yanbu oil pipeline and the UAE's Fujairah oil terminal. Together, these two facilities handle approximately 5.5 million barrels of oil per day. If Iran simultaneously cuts off the roughly 5 million barrels per day of oil supply that the U.S.-backed "shadow fleet" currently transports through the Strait of Hormuz, a successful operation would weaken a significant portion of the alternative transport capacity—the very channels that have sustained some Gulf oil exports amid broader blockade conditions. Given that Brent crude prices are already near $93 per barrel under the current tense situation, any credible action targeting Yanbu or Fujairah could be perceived by traders as a shock far larger than previous supply disruptions. BTCPay Server Hit by Critical Vulnerability Exploit, Supporters Launch Up to 3 BTC Bounty to Recover Stolen Funds

According to The Block, open-source Bitcoin payment processor BTCPay Server disclosed a critical security vulnerability being actively exploited last Friday and urgently requested users to upgrade to version 2.4.2. The vulnerability affects all versions prior to 2.4.2; attackers can use it to steal administrator macaroon authentication credentials of LND nodes, thereby fully controlling the connected Lightning Network wallets. Users such as Foundation and Citadel21 have confirmed that their Lightning node funds were drained, but BTCPay has not publicly disclosed the total amount stolen or the number of affected nodes. Currently, the official release version 2.4.2 has fixed this vulnerability, and on-chain hot wallets are not affected. The BTCPay Server Foundation has donated 0.21 BTC each to security researcher Craig Raw and Bitcoin Red Team to commend their responsible private disclosure of the vulnerability. Meanwhile, BTCPay supporters have promised to provide a bounty incentive of "10% of recovered funds," capped at 3 BTC.

Telegram Says It Was Hit by "Takedown Extortion" Attack: Apple App Store Briefly Removed App Due to User-Implanted Violative Content

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov stated that Telegram was briefly removed from the App Store by Apple recently, after a user implanted illegal pornographic content in a public group. The app was restored within hours.Durov said the attacker exploited a technical vulnerability to insert AI-modified illegal content into old messages within active groups, hiding the content by editing historical messages, making it difficult for regular group members to detect and report in time. This type of attack constitutes "takedown extortion," where attackers use automated accounts to implant violative content in public groups and report it to platforms like Apple, attempting to force group administrators to pay a ransom, or else exploit platform rules to get the community banned.Durov added that Telegram continuously combats illegal content through mechanisms such as user reports, AI filtering, and content hashing. This incident is not a systemic issue with the platform, but rather a targeted attack exploiting rule loopholes. He also warned that Apple's removal of the app without prior contact with Telegram could pose a risk to all mobile applications offering user-generated content (UGC), and platform developers need to strengthen their defenses against malicious reporting and "takedown attacks."

Nomura Securities: May Package Substrate Shipments Up 36% YoY to Hit Record High, Rubin Mass Production and HBM4 Technology Roadmap Become Focus

According to TechFlow Research, on July 14, 2026, Nomura Securities released a research report citing data from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Japan's packaging substrate shipment value in May reached 27.8 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 36%, hitting a record high; shipment area increased by 10%, and the average price rose 23% to 1.356 million yen per square meter. The report pointed out that NVIDIA Rubin packaging demand will ramp up this summer (at latest by August), but the variable worth paying more attention to is that Rubin Ultra may shift from a four-die structure to a dual-module structure, as well as the large interposer integration challenges brought by HBM4 wiring upgrades. Intel released EMIB-T technology at ECTC, expected to complete mass production readiness in 2026, capable of integrating up to 12 HBM4 units under an interposer-less solution, with power supply voltage drop improved by 68-80% compared to EMIB; TSMC maintains its lead relying on 3DFabric Alliance and advantages in power delivery and heat dissipation. Nomura Securities believes that the core battlefield of the next-generation packaging competition lies in power delivery, heat dissipation, CPO, and 3D hybrid bonding, and excess returns in the packaging substrate industry will come from the ability to bind to customer technology roadmaps.
