ENS DAO Passes Proposal to Officially Establish Foundation, Strengthening Decentralized Domain Ecosystem Governance

Odaily News ENS DAO has voted to pass the "Next Era of ENS DAO" proposal and completed on-chain execution, officially establishing the ENS Foundation to usher the ENS ecosystem into a new phase of governance.According to the proposal, the ENS Foundation will become a fully operational organization, equipped with a full-time executive director, a professional team, and a board of directors consisting of 5 members. It will be responsible for ENS's institutional work in legal, policy, standards-setting, and brand protection. ENS stated that over the past nearly decade, it has developed into critical infrastructure within the Ethereum ecosystem, with millions of registered domain names and integration across numerous wallets, applications, and Layer 2 networks. However, the DAO itself lacks a legal entity status, which prevents it from effectively participating in internet naming system governance, signing institutional cooperation agreements, hiring full-time employees, safeguarding trademark rights, or engaging in regulatory discussions. The establishment of the ENS Foundation aims to fill this gap. Going forward, the Foundation will be responsible for:1. Representing ENS in internet standards organizations such as ICANN, IETF, and W3C, to promote the recognition and management of the ".ens" top-level domain (TLD);2. Participating in policy discussions as a legal entity, communicating with regulators and government agencies;3. Holding and protecting ENS trademarks and intellectual property, and combating phishing and impersonation activities;4. Hiring full-time employees to manage ecosystem operations, grant programs, and treasury management;5. Serving as the formal cooperation entity between traditional institutions such as registrars and standards organizations and the ENS ecosystem.

Trump family-backed WLFI receives $100 million token investment, funds traced to Guren "Bobby" Zhou, a subject of a UK money laundering investigation

Odaily News: UAE-based foundation Aqua1 Foundation purchased $100 million worth of governance tokens from decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial (WLFI) on June 26, marking the largest single publicly disclosed purchase of the token to date. The funds trace back to Chinese businessman Guren "Bobby" Zhou, with up to $75 million flowing to entities linked to the Trump family and World Liberty Financial co-founder Zach Witkoff. WLFI tokens confer governance and voting rights and do not represent equity in the company. Zhou was arrested in the UK in March 2021 on suspicion of money laundering, with UK law enforcement investigations still ongoing as of late July 2026. Two of his long-time employees were indicted in September 2025, one of whom has pleaded guilty, with trial scheduled for 2028. Zhou has not yet been formally charged. Zhou met with Eric Trump in Dubai to discuss the investment and described it as participation in the "Trump family's crypto project." The source of the $100 million Aqua1 used to purchase WLFI remains unclear, and public information does not indicate any direct link between these specific funds and money laundering activities. Ethereum Staking Reward Cut Proposal Sparks Outrage: Community Fears Damage to DeFi and Weakened Decentralization

Odaily News - Ethereum Improvement Proposal EIP-8363 ("Tapered Issuance Burn") has triggered strong backlash from the community, becoming one of the most contentious debates over Ethereum's economic model since The Merge. The proposal, put forward by Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake, ETHCC co-founder Jerome de Tychey, and others, aims to gradually reduce validator rewards as the ETH staking ratio rises, ultimately bringing new issuance down to zero when staked ETH reaches 50% of the total supply. However, the proposal has drawn opposition from DeFi developers, staking service providers, and institutional investors alike. Critics argue that lowering staking yields could weaken the network's decentralization, disrupt Ethereum's DeFi ecosystem, and heighten market uncertainty around ETH's monetary policy. Opponents believe market mechanisms can already naturally regulate staking demand. Berryman noted that as yields decline to around 2%, new staking demand may naturally taper off, without the need for protocol-level changes to issuance policy.Ether.fi founder Mike Silagadze stated that the proposal is "detrimental to decentralization, Ethereum adoption, and the network's reputation." Bitwise Ethereum business lead Steve Berryman also pointed out that institutional investors require policy certainty, and adjusting the issuance mechanism could introduce additional uncertainty. Greg Koumoutsos, technical research lead at the Lido Labs Foundation, noted that Ethereum pays not only in "slashable ETH" but also in decentralization, node diversity, censorship resistance, and network resilience. Aave founder Stani Kulechov also warned that reducing ETH staking yields could impact the DeFi ecosystem, as a large volume of staking derivatives has become an integral part of lending and yield strategies.Additionally, the community is concerned that lowering staking rewards could paradoxically intensify centralization. Since individual validators lack economies of scale, declining yields may drive smaller nodes to exit, while large exchanges and institutional staking providers—backed by greater business demand—could continue expanding their market share.Currently, EIP-8363 involves not only staking reward adjustments but has also sparked broad discussions over Ethereum's long-term monetary policy, governance stability, and institutional confidence. The community believes that such a significant change to the economic model requires more thorough debate and a longer evaluation period. (Cointelegraph)

Shared ledgers among suppliers can enhance the transparency of component origins and reduce compliance risks associated with using parts from sanctioned countries.

Visa Partners with Artemis to Release On-Chain Data Report on AI Agent Payments

According to Visa's official website, Visa and Artemis jointly released a report that deeply analyzes the current status and trends of AI agent payments based on real-time on-chain data. The report indicates that AI agent payments are divided into two categories: one is "macro commerce" where agents replace users to complete tasks like booking tickets and subscriptions, similar to traditional e-commerce payments; the other is "micro commerce" such as high-frequency, low-value API calls between software, where single transaction amounts are typically less than 1 cent. On-chain data shows that the open protocol x402, incubated by Coinbase and Cloudflare and now hosted by the Linux Foundation, has processed approximately 109 million transactions since launching in May 2025, with an adjusted transaction volume of about $15 million, mainly active on the Base, Solana, and Polygon chains; the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP), jointly built by Stripe and Tempo with Visa's contribution, launched in mid-March 2026 and completed approximately 115,000 transactions within weeks, with a settlement amount of about $25,000. The report notes that blockchain settlement costs have dropped to extremely low levels, making small payments in the 1-cent to 1-dollar range economically feasible for the first time, but agent payments still face significant challenges at the legal and regulatory level regarding trust, liability attribution, and dispute resolution. Visa stated that its goal is to build a unified foundation that simultaneously supports card-native trust authorization and machine-native settlement

Ethereum Foundation uses AI agents for red team testing of the ETH network and discovers real vulnerabilities

researchers from the Ethereum Foundation Protocol Security team said in a blog post on Thursday that they have deployed a series of AI agents to test the software relied upon by Ethereum, searching for vulnerabilities in encryption systems, protocol code, and smart contracts. The vulnerabilities discovered by the AI agents include a remotely triggerable panic issue in the libp2p gossipsub peer-to-peer layer used by Ethereum consensus clients. The issue has been fixed and disclosed on Github as CVE-2026-34219. Researchers stated that the AI agents are organized into specialized roles such as reconnaissance, search, patching, and verification, used to find potential attack paths, reproduce faults, and verify their applicability to production code. The Ethereum Foundation stated that AI has not replaced security researchers but has changed the way they work, enabling the team to cover far more scope than manual review. However, it requires researchers to exercise more careful judgment when evaluating a large number of seemingly credible conclusions. (Decrypt)

Ethereum Foundation Releases Institutional Guide: Emphasizes Network "Credible Neutrality", Resilience, and Governance Advantages

The Ethereum Foundation's Global Policy Strategy (GPS) team has released the guide "Ethereum Basics for Governments and Institutions," aiming to help policymakers and institutional decision-makers understand Ethereum's operating mechanisms, governance models, and differences from other blockchain solutions. The guide emphasizes that relying on centralized systems brings systemic risks, while decentralized blockchains have the potential to mitigate such risks. Not all blockchains possess the attribute of "credible neutrality," and differences in technical architecture and governance models among blockchains will directly affect whether they can serve as public infrastructure in the long term. Ethereum holds advantages in areas such as resilience, economic security, client diversity, and ecosystem. It has operated continuously without interruption since launching in 2015, with economic security provided by approximately $76 billion in staked ETH, whereas most other Layer 1 networks rely on a single client, presenting higher systemic risks. The Ethereum Foundation stated that building applications on Ethereum does not introduce new centralized counterparty risks, as no single institution can modify rules, restrict access, or halt network operations. In comparison, control over some other Layer 1 networks is concentrated in foundations or corporate entities, which may bring governance and dependency risks.
