Coinbase Builds AI Coding Platform Forge, Exploring a New "Multi-Agent Collaboration" Software Development Model

Odaily News: Crypto exchange Coinbase is exploring the next generation of software development models through its internal AI coding system, Forge. The platform has evolved from an early internal tool into an ecosystem encompassing multiple AI development capabilities, and has become a case study of enterprises adopting Agentic AI.It is understood that Forge was previously known as Cloudbot, and its early version was even named Claudebot. Currently, Forge has become an important part of OpenSWE, an open-source AI coding framework. OpenSWE aims to provide infrastructure similar to an "AI software engineer," including agent orchestration, cloud sandboxes, tool invocation, Slack/Linear/GitHub integrations, sub-agents, and automated Pull Request creation capabilities. One of Forge's most notable features is "Mux." The tool currently has around 600 internal users at Coinbase, allowing engineers to run multiple AI agents simultaneously, transforming traditional serial development processes into a parallel collaboration model. Additionally, Forge includes features such as Slack task routing and "bug-to-fix" automation flows, designed to reduce manual handling of repetitive development tasks.Coinbase's engineering lead, Chintan Turakhia, previously conducted an internal experiment in which nearly a thousand engineers were asked to pause using traditional IDE tools for two weeks, in order to explore which tasks in the development workflow could be automated by AI-driven processes. As AI coding tool usage has increased, Coinbase's AI spending has declined, while Token usage continues to grow. He noted that by building proprietary AI development tools, the company provides employees with an alternative to third-party AI coding services such as those from Anthropic and OpenAI.However, external independent feedback on Forge and Mux remains limited so far, with most public information coming from Coinbase management disclosures. The actual hands-on experience of rank-and-file engineers has not yet been fully shared publicly.Industry observers believe that Coinbase's Forge represents a new direction for enterprise AI applications: companies are no longer just calling general-purpose large models, but are building AI agent systems centered around their own business processes to improve development efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance internal productivity. X Layer and xStocks Forge Strategic Partnership, OKX Wallet to Integrate Tokenized Stock Assets

Odaily reports, according to official sources, X Layer has entered into a strategic partnership with xStocks, a regulated tokenized stock issuance platform. Together, they will promote the integration of tokenized stock assets into the X Layer ecosystem and make related trading services accessible to OKX Wallet users. In the future, users will be able to trade xStocks-related assets 24/7 within the OKX Wallet, benefiting from the settlement, liquidity, and distribution capabilities provided by X Layer. The two parties will also launch a fast-listing mechanism to accelerate the tokenization and trading circulation of popular stocks and thematic ETFs within a compliant framework. It is reported that X Layer is committed to building on-chain infrastructure for financial assets, covering key areas such as settlement, liquidity, and distribution. xStocks has previously facilitated over $31 billion in cumulative tokenized stock trading volume and has become the first major issuer to commit to providing asset depth on X Layer, driving the expansion of tokenized stock scale.

Figure Founder Predicts Blockchain Will Reshape Wall Street Credit Infrastructure

Mike Cagney, founder of Figure Technology Solutions (FIGR), stated that the company is pushing to rebuild the underlying infrastructure of traditional credit markets through blockchain, bringing loans, real-world assets (RWA), and even stocks onto the chain. The goal is to enable credit flows to move away from traditional intermediary systems and become "the new infrastructure of Wall Street." According to data, Figure's monthly loan origination volume exceeded $1 billion for the first time in March this year, with total origination reaching $2.9 billion in the first quarter of 2026, an annualized scale of approximately $12 billion.Mike Cagney pointed out that loan tokenization can significantly reduce securitization costs and lower traditional intermediary fees, while enhancing liquidity through continuously updated credit markets, and enabling on-chain credit assets to directly integrate with the DeFi ecosystem, expanding the scope of investor participation. Its Forge platform can bundle loans into standardized asset pools and convert them into tokens usable as collateral within DeFi protocols.Currently, Figure is advancing related business within the Solana ecosystem and plans to expand to Ethereum. Additionally, the company has launched YLDS, a yield-bearing stablecoin with a scale of approximately $600 million, backed by traditional assets such as U.S. Treasury bonds, and is exploring stock tokenization as well as on-chain staking and lending. Mike Cagney stated that blockchain will become one of the most transformative technologies and will redefine the structure of future financial markets. (CoinDesk)
