SpaceX and Tesla Invest $16.8 Billion to Build AI Chip Factory in Texas, Construct Own Power Generation Facilities

SpaceX partners with Tesla, with an initial investment of $16.8 billion (approximately 113.605 billion yuan), to build the Terafab advanced AI chip manufacturing base in Grimes County, Texas. In response to environmental concerns, SpaceX pledged that factory operations will not drive up electricity costs, deplete water resources, or cause the water level of the Navasota River to drop. The factory will build its own natural gas power plant and ultra-large battery array for power supply, rather than connecting to the ERCOT main grid, ensuring an independent energy supply system and reducing reliance on local power infrastructure.
