Former FTX COO criticizes Netflix's new series "The Altruists": says trailer makes them feel "physically uncomfortable"

According to The Block, former FTX Chief Operating Officer Constance Wang has publicly criticized Netflix's upcoming FTX-themed series "The Altruists". In a post on X, Wang stated that watching the show's trailer made her feel "physically sick", and noted that the series' depiction of FTX's work environment is severely misaligned with reality; FTX had fewer than 200 employees, with many working 16 to 18 hours a day, rather than the "party" atmosphere portrayed on screen. Wang also raised objections to the portrayal of the romance between Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried, stating that their relationship was largely unknown to internal staff prior to the bankruptcy. She concluded, "FTX's collapse ruined many people's lives, including our own, and Netflix decided to turn it into a love story." The eight-episode series will officially premiere on Netflix on November 19.
