Tianyi Cui (@tianyi), an employee of DeepSeek’s product department, posted that between 8:11 and 13:04 Beijing Time on October 15, 2026, the DeepSeek API service system experienced a failure, rendering the API service unavailable for approximately five hours. The official team stated that they immediately initiated a comprehensive review and remediation, prioritizing the elimination of single-point dependencies to prevent similar issues from occurring again. As compensation, DeepSeek will issue a full refund in the form of credits based on users' account consumption within the past seven days (October 8–14). The credits will be automatically applied, and API billing will prioritize deductions from the credit account.
