According to Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet announced the issuance of 52 billion yen zero-coupon convertible corporate bonds maturing in 2031, accompanied by a simultaneous share repurchase program. Of the proceeds, up to 28.3 billion yen will be used to repurchase company shares at a discount, while 23.6 billion yen will be allocated to repay borrowings and unlock bitcoin that was previously pledged as collateral, thereby eliminating interest costs and enhancing financial flexibility for future Bitcoin purchases. Furthermore, Simon Gerovich will lend up to 55 million personal shares at an annual interest rate of 0.75 percent to lower institutional investors’ hedging stock loan costs and optimize the terms of the bond issuance.
