Governor of the Bank of Korea Impersonated: Fake Social Media Accounts Lure Users Into Investment Groups

According to Yonhap News Agency, fake accounts impersonating Lee Chang-yong (이창용), Governor of the Bank of Korea, have emerged on social media, luring users into investment groups under the guise of "helping to understand economic trends" and "study groups." Between September 22 and 23, the accounts posted multiple entries detailing Lee Chang-yong's professional background. Although they did not explicitly make public investment recommendations, they directed users who added them as friends or sent private messages to join purported "study groups," ultimately funneling them into group chats.
