Solana development team Anza announced that the new Solana consensus protocol Alpenglow has officially launched on mainnet-beta, deactivating the existing TowerBFT consensus mechanism. Following the upgrade, network transaction finality time has been drastically reduced from the original 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds, designed to provide performance support for scenarios such as institutional settlement, real-time capital market trading, developer application responsiveness, and decentralized payments for AI agents.
