Anthropic Grants Internal Access to METR, Allowing Six Employees to Audit Models and Safety Practices

Anthropic announced that six employees of the non-profit organization METR have been granted access to the company's hardware, office space, and internal tools to audit its AI models and security practices. According to disclosures, the level of access granted to these six individuals is roughly equivalent to that of Anthropic's internal risk team. METR is a non-profit research institution focused on evaluating the capabilities of frontier AI models, and gaining internal access means its audit work will no longer be limited to external testing.
