Russia mandates miners to connect to "Category IV reliability" power grids, subjecting them to arbitrary power outages.

Source: bits.media Event types: Online/Update
According to Bits.Media, the Russian Ministry of Energy has issued new regulations requiring all cryptocurrency mining facilities to connect to the grid solely under the "Class IV reliability" consumer category, meaning authorities can cut off power to miners at any time without prior notice. This category was established by the government in February this year, allowing miners to connect to the grid in regions that have declared energy shortages and explicitly prohibited mining, though they must accept the risk of immediate disconnection. The Ministry of Energy stated that the measure aims to optimize the utilization of existing energy infrastructure while ensuring an uninterrupted power supply for residents. Prior to this, the Russian Anti-Monopoly Service had already proposed banning energy companies from participating in cryptocurrency mining and from providing facilities and power resources to mining operators.
