Xi Jinping Inspects Ulanqab: Promote Development of the Green Computing Power Industry and Transform Computing Power Advantages into Developmental Advantages
According to Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, president of the People's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected the Chahar High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia, on Oct. 16, to learn about the region's progress in building hub nodes for the "East Data, West Computing" project and developing a green computing industry. Rich in wind and solar resources, Ulanqab has leveraged advantages such as green electricity, climate, and location to foster its green computing sector, achieving notable results in recent years.
Xi Jinping pointed out that implementing the "East Data, West Computing" project and building a national integrated computing power network represent a key deployment by the CPC Central Committee. Scientific planning, resource support, and security safeguards must be strengthened to ensure the efficient operation of completed projects and the timely completion of upcoming ones. The industrial chain should be extended to promote deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy, converting computing advantages into broader developmental strengths.
He also noted that the computing power network is one of the state-planned "six major networks," with the computing industry accelerating its development and holding broad prospects. He stressed implementing standards for efficiency, sustainability, and safety, while emphasizing synergy between computing and electricity, and between computing and water. Computing center projects must be effectively built and operated to contribute to the advancement of Digital China and the growth of new quality productive forces.
