BAYC Co-founder Responds to Controversy Over "BAYC Ruined NFTs": The Real Issue Is the Proliferation of Copycat Projects

NFT whale Pranksy posted on X claiming that "BAYC has ruined NFT." The underlying technology was overshadowed by image-based projects like BAYC, causing the public to ultimately equate NFTs with "the ape project," followed by years of numerous copycat projects emerging in the market. Addressing this, BAYC co-founder Greg Solano responded that Pranksy had sold a BAYC asset that could have been worth $500 million for merely millions of dollars while continuing to promote numerous "copycat projects." She had founded several NFT-related companies, but these have now been removed from her profile. Solano also angrily retorted, "Either become the change you wish to see, or enjoy the wealth brought by BAYC."
