BTC and U.S. Stock Volatility Near Yearly Lows as Treasury Volatility Hits Highest Since March

Source: www.coindesk.com
Odaily News: Volatility in the U.S. Treasury market has risen notably in recent days, while Bitcoin and the U.S. stock market remain calm. The MOVE Index, which measures expected Treasury volatility, rose from around 80 on Tuesday to 104 on Thursday, the highest level since March, when it once reached 199. By comparison, the Volmex 30-day Bitcoin Implied Volatility Index (BVIV) currently stands at around 37, close to its yearly low of 35, while the Cboe VIX, which measures expected S&P 500 volatility, is near its yearly low of 14. Meanwhile, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield touched 5.2% on Thursday before falling back to 5.163%.Data shows that over the past 20 trading days, the correlation coefficient between the VIX and the MOVE has fallen to -0.06, turning negative for the first time since April 2024; the correlation coefficient between BVIV and the MOVE stands at -0.37, among the lowest levels in recent years. Analysts note that as U.S. Treasuries serve as a critical foundation of the global financial and credit system, rising volatility typically signals tightening financial conditions, but BTC and U.S. stocks have yet to reflect the same degree of volatility risk as the bond market.
