Iberdrola, BBVA and Santander Complete First Full-Lifecycle Blockchain Syndicated Loan

According to BBVA's official website, Iberdrola, BBVA, and Santander Bank completed a €150 million corporate syndicated loan on October 15, 2026, marking the world's first syndicated loan whose entire lifecycle is managed through distributed ledger technology (DLT). The platform replaces the traditional multi-party database reconciliation process with a single shared information source, enhancing transaction traceability and reducing operational risk. The three parties stated that they will gradually onboard more participating institutions and expand platform functionalities to drive the modernization of syndicated loan market infrastructure.
