Tether will gradually wind down operations of aUSDT and focus on core products such as XAUT in the future.

According to an official announcement, Tether has decided to phase out support for the Alloy by Tether platform and its aUSD₮ stablecoin following an evaluation of user engagement, market demand, and the company’s overall strategic priorities. Effective immediately, the platform will disable new position creation and new aUSD₮ minting. Existing users may still redeem their aUSD₮ and withdraw the gold-backed stablecoin XAU₮ within the next three months. Starting September 17, 2026, users who have not completed redemption will no longer be able to retrieve their XAU₮ via the platform. Tether stated that it will redirect resources toward further development of XAU₮ and other core products within its ecosystem.
