Google Acquires Bankrupt Airline Spirit's Data for $10 Million for AI Training

Google won Spirit Airlines' massive anonymized data in the bankruptcy auction with a $10 million bid to improve AI services. The data includes 100 million emails, 30 million customer service recordings, 5 million Teams messages, and system data from Oracle, SAP, and others. The competing bidder was AI training data supplier Mercor. Court documents show the data has been anonymized, and Google promised to remove any personally identifiable information from it.
